All Ravens Run teachers are professional artists or educators who currently work in their fields. Our experienced staff teaches and mentors students at all levels. They are committed to guiding students through a creative experience that develops their abilities and encourages their personal expression.
TERRI HERRING, Director
Ceramic Artist and Landscape Painter
Terri has been involved with art her entire life. She has loved teaching children since her first summer job as an arts and crafts counselor (over thirty years ago!) Terri studied at Queens College in New York and more recently at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. She is the director and participating artist of Bucks AIR, the artist-in-residence program at Council Rock, New Hope-Solebury and other local school districts. Terri has created over 60 large-scale mosaic murals in schools, libraries & synagogues. Over the years she has run the art programs at Children’s Seashore House, Ramapo Anchorage Camp, Rimon Jewish Day School, and the kindergarten art programs at Sol Feinstone Elementary School and Shir Ami Early Learning Center. This will be Terri’s 14th year directing Ravens Run.

Drawing & Painting Teacher
Kim Ace is an art teacher in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. This summer will be Kim’s tenth year teaching at Raven’s Run. She has a BA in art education from The College of New Jersey and studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Kim is a portrait artist and muralist. She is married and has two daughters, two cats and a dog.
Mrs. Carr earned her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from The College of NJ and a Master’s degree in Art Education from Washington University in St. Louis. She has 17 years teaching experience at the elementary level, served as an adjunct professor in the Art & Art History department at The College of NJ, and has studied at Princeton University in The Teacher Prep program. Mrs. Carr has organized and participated with her students in various community art events throughout Mercer County, NJ. She has taught students of all ages at local arts schools including The Arts Council of Princeton and ARTworks in Trenton, NJ. Mrs. Carr is passionate about teaching art to her students and seeks out opportunities to make real world connections to further develop students understanding of art experiences.
Amber is returning to Raven’s Run for her fourth summer. She currently teaches 6th grade ELA in the Philadelphia School District. She has worked with numerous theatre groups in and out of state as cast, choreographer, and/or director. She currently lives in Langhorne with her husband, two cats, and a dog. Amber received her BS in childhood education with an emphasis in theatre from Houghton College.
Printing & ceramics teacher
Michael Catalano is back to Ravens Run for his fifth summer. He studied Fine Arts at Tyler School of Art and dual majored in both Painting and Art Education. Michael received his Masters of Education from Arcadia University, with concentrations in Art Education and Curriculum Design. Michael has been currently teaching elementary art in the Council Rock School District for the past 6 years. He looks forward to inspiring and getting inspired by this years campers.
This is Morgan”s second summer at Ravens Run! Morgan has recently graduated with art education degree from The College of New Jersey. She has student taught at Trenton Central High School, Riverside Elementary in Princeton NJ, West Windsor, Plainsboro South High School, Antheil Elementary in Ewing NJ and Richard C Crockett Middle School in Hamilton NJ.
IVIA SKY YAVELOW
Ivia is a working artist who lives in Lambertville, NJ. She graduated with a BFA from Bard College. She attended Ravens Run Art Camp since she was about 8 years old!
Liz is a rising senior at Tyler School of Arts with a major in ceramics. She is a pro at firing the kiln and looks forward to getting messy on the pottery wheels!
Danielle is excited to return as our printmaking & photography teacher after spending the semester in Spain. She graduated from Tyler School of Art with a degree in printmaking. Danielle was a former camper and a very prolific artist. She returns this summer after spending the past year working in San Francisco.
David Gardiner is a Lambertville, NJ based photographer. He is a staff photographer for the New York Road Runners, and shoots for PR and commercial clients. His work has appeared in multiple world wide advertising campaigns, catalogs and magazines. David is also a professional photo retoucher. David has retouched for many prominent New York City photographers, magazines and e-commerce sites. View David’s photography (davidgardinerphoto) and retouching portfolios (pixelretoucher). During the summer, David teaches advanced photography at different summer camps where he helps young photographers in developing a body of work that is cohesive in concept and aesthetic style. David received a BA with a focus in photography from Global College at Long Island University where he studied in different cities around the world. David is excited for his first year at Ravens Run!
Ravens Run counselors are bright, creative and caring college students who love working with children. Many are planning careers in the arts and/or teaching fields.
